The universe is divided into multiple planes of existence that represent distinct layers of physical reality, subspace, and spiritual energy. How these realms form and interact is governed by the rules detailed on the Cosmology page. Within this cosmology, the balance between order and chaos, represented by the primordial forces generates the multi-planar structure and allows each realm to maintain its own physical and magical laws. Because divine energy responds directly to mortal belief, faith molds these dimensions into specialized demi-planes, afterlives, and neutral territories.
The Material Plane, or Prime Material Plane, is the center of existence for humans and mortal life. It contains physical reality in its entirety, from subatomic particles to galaxies, and serves as the primary setting for roleplaying across all three major settings. Numerous subspace layers—such as Hyperspace, The Void, and Lantean Hyperspace—sit directly adjacent to the Material Plane, allowing relatively easy transit and interaction.
When a mortal dies, their afterlife destination is determined by the emotional residue they choose to hold onto. Souls that cling to love, joy, and positive experiences transition to the Infinite Sanctuary. Conversely, those consumed by guilt, hatred, anger, or inflicted trauma descend into the Severed Realm. In both cases, the soul undergoes a gradual transformation into an entity of pure spiritual purpose matching its chosen realm.
Souls that remain conflicted or uncertain pass into the Ocean of Dreams to reflect on their lives and choose whether to let go of their burdens or succumb to them. If a soul holds onto both positive and negative energies in equal measure without resolving them, they become a ghost. These spirits wander the dreams of the living and occasionally manifest on the Material Plane seeking closure.
Hyperspace is a layer of subspace directly adjacent to the Material Plane where spatial compression allows vessels to travel at speeds vastly exceeding normal physical limits. Cosmologically, it sits wedged between the Material Plane, the Ocean of Dreams, and the Severed Realm. While its darker recesses naturally attract malevolent entities, its proximity to the Material Plane makes it difficult for those entities to directly interfere with physical travelers.
A variant of Hyperspace positioned closer to the Infinite Sanctuary than the Severed Realm. Because of this spiritual alignment, travelers occasionally encounter benign spirits or observing ghosts, though direct interaction remains rare due to its close anchoring to the Material Plane.
Unlike standard Hyperspace, this subspace layer sits equidistant from both the Severed Realm and the Infinite Sanctuary while existing further removed from the Material Plane. This separation from physical space allows for significantly faster transit speeds than other Hyperspace layers.
An adjacent transitionary layer of subspace connecting the Material Plane, Hyperspace, and The Void. Defined by a complete absence of physical energy and matter, existence within Folded Space is mathematically difficult to sustain. Technology like the Dimensional Fold Drive exploits this empty space to bypass conventional spacetime entirely.
The plane Kenamereht, also known as the mirror realm, exists in parallel to the material plane. The realm is made up of gateways, portals, andd doors through it's mirrored surfaces. These surfaces both reflects what is real and nearly any variation through the multiverse. It's connections reach out to other planes of existance through the mirrored surfaces.
The Realms of the Dead house the departed essence of mortal beings. Because a mortal's soul is composed of Aether, one of the Five Elements, it exists independently of the physical body. While an unencumbered soul can theoretically traverse any plane, certain realms pose severe environmental hazards to lingering spirits.
The Infinite Sanctuary is an afterlife domain dedicated to preservation, reflection, and preparation for rebirth. It is connected to the Garden of Leudhort, Ocean of Dreams, and the Severed Realm.
The Ocean of Dreams is a complex realm where thought and physical reality intertwine. Here, the energies of the living and the dead co-mingle. To a mortal visitor, distinguishing physical surroundings from mental constructs is nearly impossible, making navigation unpredictable.
The Severed Realm acts as a repository for souls weighed down by unresolved negative attachments. As trapped souls refuse to let go of their hatred and anger, the realm's corruptive environment slowly transforms their them into abbarations. While intervention is possible early on, once a soul fully embraces its corruption and completes the transformation, the process is permanent.
Each of the Five Elements, Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, and Aether, maintains a dedicated plane where raw elemental energy forms the physical architecture of the environment. While relatively close to the Material Plane cosmologically, entering them directly remains hazardous for mortal biology.
This is the elemental plane of Aether, this domain consists entirely of raw life energy and mental forces, sitting closely adjacent to the Ocean of Dreams. Mortals can access this realm by mentally projecting their consciousness as an echo or pseudo-ghost, leaving their physical body behind while connected by an ethereal tether. If the projected soul is damaged or destroyed, or if the tether is severed, the physical body suffers identical harm or death, releasing the soul into the Ocean of Dreams.
The Dark Aether is a chaotic, shadowed parallel to the Material Plane, isolated by massive metaphysical wards. Dark Aether acts as a containment buffer between physical reality, the Astral Plane, and the Severed Realm, trapping powerful demonic forces and preventing widespread incursions into mortal space. The realm embodies the absolute antithesis of life and sanity; its chaotic properties will quickly drive unprotected mortal souls mad. Traversing it is notoriously difficult, though practitioners occasionally use unholy runes to anchor and pull segments of the realm closer to physical reality.
Igniscel is the Elemental Plane of Fire, a domain of perpetual combustion, oceans of liquid magma, and ash-choked skies. It embodies heat, light, destruction, and rapid transformation, acting as the universal catalyst that sparks change across the cosmos.
Terragrav is the Elemental Plane of Earth, a vast expanse of shifting continental plates, crystalline caverns, and dense ores. It represents permanence, gravity, resilience, and structure, providing the solid foundational matter upon which physical reality is built.
Zephyrion is the Elemental Plane of Wind, an infinite vault of open skies, perpetual jet streams, and violent storm fronts. It governs motion, breath, sound, and weather, weaving currents that carry energy and atmosphere across the multi-planar structure.
Aqualiss is the Elemental Plane of Water, a boundless abyss of crushing ocean trenches, coral spires, and suspended spheres of liquid. It dictates adaptability, fluidity, cohesion, and the cycles of life, serving as the cosmic wellspring that nourishes mortal existence.
Dimmvidir is a borderland layer sitting directly between the Material Plane, the Severled Realm, and the Astral Plane. It allows physical beings to survive while drawing upon the ambient dark energy of the Severed Realm. However, prolonged exposure slowly corrupts its inhabitants, making it a dangerous shortcut for practitioners seeking dark magic without entering the Severed Realm directly.
Sitting directly adjacent to the Astral Plane, Vafilosna is a realm of pure, unbridled chaos. The constant, unpredictable churning of its wild Aether dictates the erratic spiritual currents across the Astral Plane and bleeds into surrounding reality. It acts as the cosmic engine for mutation, infinite possibilities, and sudden disruption across the multiverse, dissolving rigid structures into raw, volatile potential.
Positioned opposite Vafilosna and anchored directly to the Astral Plane, Axiomara is a realm of absolute, immutable order. Here, Aether flows in precise, geometric lattices and flawless mathematical patterns, maintaining perpetual stasis and harmony. Its stabilizing currents act as a cosmic anchor against entropy, establishing universal physical constants, immutable laws of magic, and spiritual equilibrium throughout existence.
Also known as demiplanes, these finite bubbles of curved space are attached or anchored directly to the Material Plane. While their external borders appear finite from the outside, their interior architecture can stretch infinitely depending on the magic used to construct them.
Void Space is a unique area, it's edges spread through the void between worlds. Within the contained 10-lightyear spheroid area there is infinite with a star system called Selencia at it's center.
The Vihara Shunya is an unstable demiplane anchored at the intersection of the Material Plane, the volatile energies of the Dark Aether, and the fractured void of the Severed Realm. Masquerading as an endless asylum built with non-Euclidean geometry, this shifting prison acts as a quarantine zone for forbidden knowledge and extradimensional anomalies. The overlapping dimensional influences saturate its corridors with erratic psychic resonance, slowly degrading the sanity of those ensnared inside and transforming former mortals into obsessed experimenters which are aberrant phantasmal horrors.
