Known among historical scholars as The Enlightened, they possessed knowledge capable of destabilizing conventional reality. A powerful extradimensional entity anchored itself to the Vihara Shunya, granting these individuals advanced capabilities in exchange for their permanent isolation within its walls.
The original guardians of the sanctuary acted as both wardens and guides. Their primary duty was containment: preventing The Enlightened from returning to the physical world and releasing disruptive knowledge into unprepared societies. Over time, records of the realm's precise location and purpose were intentionally destroyed by historical factions to prevent curiosity-seekers from breaching the gates.
