The Infinite Sanctuary is an afterlife domain dedicated to preservation, reflection, and preparation for rebirth. Presided over by Onos, the God of Keeping, it centers around a massive manor, sprawling gardens, and ancestral homesteads. Here, departed souls shed the grievances of mortal life before passing into the Ocean of Dreams.
When souls arrive in the Infinite Sanctuary, their primary task is to let go of mortal anger and grief. By dwelling alongside their ancestors and engaging with the domain's keepers, they gradually process the trauma of their past lives.
Once unburdened, souls transition to the Ocean of Dreams—a mutable, subconscious plane shared within the Aether of all living beings. This sea consists of individual "Islands of Dreaming," each projected by a sleeping mortal mind. Though these islands rarely touch, skilled or fortunate dreamers sometimes bridge the gap to share experiences.
Often feared by imprudent mages as the "Land of Nightmares," this plane acts as a mixing vessel for the living and the dead. Within its currents, departed souls dissolve their final attachments to their past identities before being spun out into new mortal lives, perpetuating the cycle of reincarnation.
The domain is organized into distinct zones of contemplation, study, and sensory experience, each governed by different deities and their servants.
Onos constructed the central manor as a monument to preservation. Maintained by his devoted servants, the vast estate serves three distinct functions:
Outside the manor lie dense grounds maintained jointly by the servants of Citona, Goddess of Life, and Eruer, God of Stillness. The gardens balance overgrown vitality with absolute silence; thick blooms and towering trees grow along winding paths where wandering spirits and wildlife move without making a sound. If one is lucky, they may find a path to the Garden of Leudhort.
Cutting through the foliage is the River of Time, a waterway composed of pure temporal energy. The three Fates—Discord, Timbre, and Harmony—tend its banks and direct its currents, where ripples occasionally reveal glimpses of past and future clarity.
The stillness of the gardens is broken only by Udona, Goddess of Music. Her compositions drift continuously through the air, vibrating through the leaves to provide subtle, ambient noise for wandering souls seeking introspection.
Beyond the gardens sit the homesteads, built by the Fates as gathering places for deceased lineages. Free from the linear pressure of mortal time, multiple generations of ancestral families reside together under shared roofs.
These homes provide the domestic familiarity needed for newly arrived souls to ground themselves. By sharing histories and resolving lingering familial wounds, souls achieve the final emotional closure required to leave the sanctuary and enter the Ocean of Dreams.
